The school holiday dates are set by the Department of Education and Skills and are listed below for the 2022/2023 academic year.

The school year is divided into 2 terms with each school year commencing in either the last week of August or first week of September and run until either early June (post primary schools) or late June (primary schools) for the summer holidays.
Primary schools may use 3 discretionary days to extend the February holidays to a 5-day break, which most do.
